Privacy Policy
Effective: August 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Yusr Relief (“Yusr Relief,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit yusrrelief.org and related pages (the “Site”), contact us, subscribe to updates, or make a gift.
By using the Site you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. Donation checkout on Zeffy is also governed by Zeffy’s own privacy policy.
Questions: [email protected]. Donation questions: [email protected].
The short version
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and similar checkout data go to Zeffy and its processors (including Stripe). We never see your full card number.
- Zelle is a bank-to-bank transfer. We do not process that payment. Your bank’s privacy policy applies to the transfer itself.
- The Contact page opens your own email app. We receive messages in Google Workspace. We do not store a copy of that form on this website.
- If you join an email list, that address goes to our list provider (for example Mailchimp, Buttondown, or Kit). We use it only for Yusr Relief news. We do not sell the list.
- We do not currently run our own advertising or analytics pixels. Third-party tools we embed (Zeffy, Cloudflare, SantiyCMS) may set their own cookies.
Who we are
Yusr Relief is a U.S. charitable organization operating this Site. We are a 501(c)(3) in formation. Tax treatment of gifts is described in our Terms of Use. This policy covers information collected through the Site and related online tools we control. It does not cover information collected only offline, or by companies we do not control (including Zeffy, your bank, social networks, or sites we link to).
What information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details when you email us (name, email, phone, message) or when we reply.
- Your email address if you subscribe to updates through a form on this Site.
- Donor details Zeffy shares with us after a gift (typically name, email, amount, campaign, date, and similar records needed for receipts and our books).
- If you give by Zelle: whatever appears on our organization bank statement (usually name and amount, sometimes a memo).
- Photos, stories, or other materials you send us to describe our work, if you choose to send them.
Information collected automatically
- Standard technical logs from our hosts and security providers (for example IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time, and approximate location derived from IP). Used to run, secure, and debug the Site.
- Appearance preference (light or dark) stored in your browser’s local storage if you use the theme button.
- If we temporarily password-gate the Site before launch, a cookie may record that you entered the shared password so you are not asked again on every visit.
Payment information
Through a third-party processor (Zeffy, and processors it uses such as Stripe), donation amount, date and time, payment method type, billing postal code, and similar transaction details may be collected. Full card numbers are collected by those processors, not by this website.
Correspondence
Email and other messages you send us may be retained in our organization mailbox and files so we can respond and keep records. Do not email payment card numbers, bank passwords, or Zelle one-time codes.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file stored on your device. We use a small set of cookies and similar storage. We do not currently use advertising cookies or a first-party analytics product such as Google Analytics.
- Necessary / operational. Needed to load the Site, keep it secure, and (when a coming-soon gate is on) remember that you unlocked it.
- Preference. Theme (light or dark) in local storage so the Site matches what you last chose.
- Third-party. When their tools load, Zeffy (donation form), Cloudflare (DNS, security, and Stream video), Vercel (hosting), and any video host we embed may set their own cookies. Their policies apply to those cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; some features (especially checkout) may then fail.
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Like many sites, we do not currently honor that signal as a separate setting beyond what this policy already describes.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to operate the Site and our charitable work, including:
- To provide, host, secure, and improve the Site.
- To respond to you and manage our relationship with you.
- To receive, record, and acknowledge donations, and to issue or request receipts.
- To detect fraud, abuse, and security incidents, and to comply with law.
- To keep records required for tax, charity, and accounting rules.
- To send operational messages about a gift you made. If you join our list, to send Yusr Relief news you asked for.
We will not sell or rent your contact information for others’ marketing. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles for sale.
How donations and payments are handled
Online card and digital-wallet gifts are processed by Zeffy, not by this website. Zeffy’s form may be embedded on our Donate or campaign pages or opened on Zeffy’s site. When you give that way:
- You are also subject to Zeffy’s privacy policy and terms.
- Payment credentials are collected by Zeffy and its processors. Those companies are PCI-scoped. We are not.
- Zeffy may email you a transaction or tax receipt. We may also email you from [email protected] or [email protected] about your gift.

Zelle: if we offer it, you send money through your bank’s Zelle feature to the organization name and handle published on this Site. We do not collect your bank login or debit card through this website. Zelle does not issue our tax receipts automatically. Email [email protected] if you need a receipt and include the date, amount, and the name on the transfer.
Email is not a payment method. Do not send card numbers to us by email.
Who we share with
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information collected through the Site. We share information only as needed to run Yusr Relief:
- Zeffy and its payment processors — to complete and record gifts.
- Our bank — Zelle and deposits.
- Google Workspace — email ([email protected], [email protected]) and related files our team uses to operate.
- Cloudflare — DNS, security, and video hosting (Stream) for clips we publish.
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Sanity — content management (stories, campaigns, photos we publish).
- An email list provider we choose (for example Mailchimp) — only if you subscribe on this Site. Their privacy policy also applies to that list.
- Professional advisors (accountant, counsel) and authorities when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a reorganization of the organization.
- Service providers who work for us under a duty to keep information confidential, including independent contractors who maintain this website.
- Aggregate or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify you, at our discretion, for reporting on our work.
We do not sell personal information as that term is used in U.S. state privacy laws.
Photos, video, and stories
Images and videos on this Site are published by us (or our partners) to describe our work. They are hosted by Sanity, Cloudflare Stream, or another host we name on the page. Do not send us other people’s images unless you have the right to do so. If you believe a photo or clip should be removed, email [email protected].
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed to operate the Site and for legitimate organizational purposes, then delete or de-identify it where practical. In particular:
- Donation and accounting records are kept as long as tax, charity, and bookkeeping rules require (often several years after the gift).
- Email is kept as long as needed to handle the conversation and our files, and longer if a dispute, audit, or legal duty requires it.
- Technical logs are kept for a short operational period unless needed for security or legal reasons.
- List-provider records last until you unsubscribe or we close the list, subject to that provider’s retention rules.
International visitors
The Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from elsewhere, your information is processed in the U.S. and in the countries where our processors operate. Those countries may not provide the same legal protections as your home country. By using the Site you understand that transfer.
Security
We use HTTPS, access controls on our tools, and reputable processors for payments. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, hardware failure, or other events will never occur. Do not email payment card data.
Children
This Site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Donations should be made by adults. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it where we are able.
Your choices and rights
- Email [email protected] to correct your contact details or ask what we have about you.
- Ask us not to send optional updates. Transactional gift emails may still be required.
- Unsubscribe from a list using the link in those emails, or email [email protected] with the address to remove.
- Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights to know, access, delete, correct, or appeal. Email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy request.” We will not discriminate against you for exercising those rights. We may need to verify who you are.
- If you are in a place with GDPR-style rights (access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, or withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent), email the same address. We will respond as the law requires. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
If a processor (Zeffy, Google, your bank, a list provider) holds the data, we may need to point you to them or request it on your behalf.
Links to other sites
The Site may link to other websites. Their privacy practices are their own. We do not accept responsibility for those policies. Read them before you give information there.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top will change. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy. Material changes to how we handle donations will be reflected here.
