Questions
Frequently asked questions
Who is Yusr Relief?
Yusr Relief is a U.S. charitable organization. We raise and direct funds for people in need through public campaigns, updates, and donations. Learn more on our Mission page.
We are a 501(c)(3) organization. Your gifts are tax-deductible.
How do I donate?
The fastest way is on our Donate page. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and similar methods go through Zeffy, a third-party processor. The gift is to Yusr Relief, not to Zeffy.
Some campaigns have their own donate button. You can also give by Zelle if we publish those details on the Donate page. Confirm the recipient name and handle on this site before you send.
Do not email card numbers, bank passwords, or Zelle codes.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, your gifts are tax-deductible. We are a 501(c)(3) organization.
Do you take a fee from my gift?
Yusr Relief does not add a required platform fee on top of your gift. Online checkout is processed by Zeffy, which does not charge organizations a processing fee.
Zeffy may show an optional tip or contribution to Zeffy at checkout. That is their prompt, not a required fee from us. You can usually lower or skip it before you pay. Read the checkout screen.
What is the difference between Zeffy and Zelle?
Zeffy is for cards and digital wallets. The form on Donate (and on some campaign pages) is Zeffy’s form, sometimes shown inside our page. Zeffy generally emails a receipt.
Zelle is a bank-to-bank transfer to the organization name and handle we publish. We do not collect your bank login. Zelle transfers are typically final once your bank completes them, and Zelle does not automatically issue our receipt. Email [email protected] with the date, amount, and the name on the transfer if you need one.
Will I get a receipt?
For Zeffy gifts, Zeffy generally emails a receipt. That is the primary record of the transaction.
For Zelle, we will generate a receipt with the total donations by the end of the year. A receipt is not tax advice and does not decide deductibility.
Can I give zakat or sadaqah?
Sadaqah and general charity can be given through any open campaign or the Donate page.
If you intend a gift as zakat, email [email protected] first so we can tell you whether a current campaign is designated for that. We do not issue religious rulings. Please ask a scholar you trust.
Can I give monthly?
Yes, if Zeffy’s checkout offers a recurring option. Recurring gifts continue until you cancel in the way Zeffy provides, or you email [email protected] and we help you stop them.
Is my payment information safe?
We never see your full card number. Card and wallet checkout is handled by Zeffy and its processors (including Stripe). Those companies are built for payment security. This website is not.
Read our Privacy Policy for what we collect after a gift (typically name, email, amount, and campaign).
Can I choose a specific campaign?
Yes. Open a campaign under Campaigns and use that page’s donate button when it has one. Gifts through the general Donate page support Yusr Relief’s work as we reasonably determine, including active campaigns.
What if a campaign is overfunded or closed?
If a campaign is overfunded, closed, or no longer practical, we may apply the remainder to similar relief work. We will not use a gift for another purpose if you clearly restrict it in writing and we accept that restriction.
Campaign pages describe need and progress. They are not a guarantee that a specific person will receive a specific item, or that a dollar goal will be met on a given date. Details are in our Terms of Use.
How are donations used?
Unless we agree otherwise in writing, gifts support Yusr Relief’s charitable purposes as we reasonably determine, including the campaign you selected if it is still open and that use remains practical. We may work with partners to deliver aid.
We aim to apply gifts toward stated purposes. We cannot guarantee a specific project outcome.
Can I get a refund?
Gifts are generally voluntary and non-refundable. We may refund or reverse a gift if there was an obvious duplicate or processing error, if we cannot accept it, or if the payment network requires it.
Email [email protected] promptly. Unauthorized card use should also be reported to your card issuer. Zelle transfers are typically final once your bank completes them.
How else can I help?
Share a campaign page, subscribe to updates when the signup appears on the site, or email [email protected] about volunteering or a partnership. We are a small organization and will tell you honestly what we can take on.
How do I hear about new campaigns?
Check Updates and Campaigns on this site. If we offer an email list, the signup is on the homepage and in the footer. We do NOT sell that list.
How do I contact you?
General: [email protected]. Donations and receipts: [email protected]. Or use the Contact page.
